MANUEL'S
Morelos 130 (877) 772.5915
Slightly upscale, not intimidating at all. Located on a side street off Hidalgo strip Manuel’s Restaurant is another option in downtown Acuna. It has a small bar, alhough not a lot of patrons gather around it, at least that's what it seems. Kitchen closes at 12:00 am. Bar at 1:00 pm.
Dinning room tends to get a bit crowded, due to its size. A reservation might be an option; we don’t guarantee they’ll honor it. Average service. It is slightly overpriced for Acuna standards. It attracts a business/casual crowd. Since you won’t find many options on the menu, a safe way to go is the Tampiquena, a combination platter served with a 12-14 oz skirt steak. Kitchen closes at midnight, bar at 1:00 a.m. Parking lot is right across the street; however it always seems to be packed.
CROSBY'S
Hidalgo 195 (877) 772.2020
Somehow Crosby’s has become a landmark in Ciudad Acuna. It is located in an interesting Northern Mexico- colonial style Casona on the main strip and offers typical Tex-Mex dishes. A good starter can be the Sopa de Tortillas. A popular dish would be Enchiladas or Puntas de Bistek (cubed beef in spices), make sure is not spicy. Items on the menu are a bit pricey given the complexity of the dishes. Service is ok, servers are attentive. For those that enjoy having a beer or margarita at the bar, it has a small bar area. Although margaritas are a bit watered down and rocky, perhaps a better choice would be a cold Mexican beer. It’s centrally located with a mid-size parking lot. Décor evokes the early 1900’s with green overtones. Definitely a tourist environment. We wouldn’t say the best restaurant in town, but not a bad choice either.
TACOS GRILL
Guerrero 1490 (877) 772.4041
Tacos Grill is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its famous and traditional buffet offers everyday items as well as daily specials, catering to every preference. You won’t find a lot of seafood items on the food bar though. Vegetarian friendly. It gets busy at lunch, since it seems to be the favorite place among young professionals and families on weekdays. Open until midnight on weekends featuring live music. They also offer an brunch/omelet grill station on the weekends. The décor reminds us of a Mexican Palapa. It’s split in two sections and has a large parking lot. Wait staff tends to be a bit distracted, so you might have to grab their attention by waving at them a few times. Not a lot of help at the food/salad bar. You might have to figure it out on your own. Start off with a tasty Mexican style beef or chicken soup. Fajitas are good too. Salsas are very yummy, if it is too hot order a lemonade and get free refills. Also there is a decent selection of fresh cut fruit and desserts a plenty. If not a buffet fan, you can order a la cart as well. This eatery is located a few blocks from downtown Acuna, on Guerrero Blvd. Two blocks down from Vegas Casino.
Like most Mexican businesses, they might or might not answer the phone, furthermore it might not work, but it doesn't hurt trying. Enjoy it!! |
